简介:
The implementation of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes has been standardized as a mandatory feature in the 2019 IEEE 802.11ax amendment, which introduces sixth-generation wireless local area networks (WLANs) for frequencies below 6 GHz. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (OFDM MU-MIMO) technologies are standardized in Task Group (TG) 802.11ax meetings to enhance spectrum and area efficiency in ultra-dense WLAN deployments. This paper evaluates the performance of binary convolutional codes (BCC) and LDPC codes across various configurations of multi-antenna systems, while considering both hardware limitations and system impairments. Our analysis reveals that integrating LDPC codes into the IEEE 802.11ax physical layer achieves power gains ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 dB compared to BCC decoding with soft-decision Viterbi algorithms in most examined scenarios.
