The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a global organization dedicated to standardization, bringing together national electrotechnical committees from around the world. The primary goal of IEC is to foster international cooperation in all matters related to standardization within the electrical and electronic fields. To achieve this objective, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS), and Guides collectively referred to as “IEC Publications.” These publications are developed by technical committees with participation from any interested national committee of IEC. Additionally, international governmental and non-governmental organizations collaborate in the preparation process. The IEC works closely with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) under an agreement that outlines their collaboration terms.
