简介:
Over the course of my career, advancements in software engineering have been truly extraordinary. Modern societies are fundamentally dependent on substantial, professionally developed software systems. The landscape for constructing business systems is characterized by a bewildering array of technologies – including J2EE, .NET, SaaS, SAP, BPEL4WS, SOAP, CBSE, and more – all designed to support the creation and deployment of large-scale enterprise applications. Crucially, vital national utilities and infrastructure sectors – encompassing energy, communications, and transportation – depend on intricate and generally dependable computer systems. Software has facilitated our exploration of space and the genesis of the World Wide Web, an unparalleled information system that represents a watershed moment in human history. Presently, humanity confronts a new set of significant challenges: climate change and severe weather patterns, diminishing natural resources, a rapidly growing global population requiring sustenance and housing, international terrorism threats, and the imperative to ensure that elderly individuals lead fulfilling and satisfying lives. We require innovative technologies to effectively tackle these issues, and software will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in these solutions. Consequently, software engineering stands as a critically important technology for the future of humankind. It is essential that we continue to invest in the education of software engineers and cultivate robust disciplines to enable the development of increasingly complex software systems. Admittedly, challenges persist within software project management; instances of delays and cost overruns still occur occasionally. However, we must not allow these setbacks to obscure the considerable achievements within software engineering and the sophisticated methodologies and technologies that have been successfully established. The field of software engineering has expanded dramatically to such an extent that it’s impossible to comprehensively cover its entirety within a single volume. Therefore, my focus centers on core topics that are foundational to all development processes alongside subjects related to creating reliable distributed systems. There’s a growing emphasis on agile methodologies alongside traditional plan-driven approaches to software engineering; integrating the strengths of both offers the potential for superior system construction. Books inevitably reflect the perspectives and biases inherent in their authors viewpoints. It is anticipated that some readers may disagree with my particular opinions or selections; such divergence represents a valuable indicator of intellectual diversity within the field and is vital for ongoing progress. Nevertheless, I sincerely hope that both experienced software engineers and aspiring students will discover valuable insights within this work.
