The WCD9335 represents a self-contained, high-fidelity (hi-fi) audio codec integrated circuit, specifically designed to complement Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.’s (QTI) multimedia solutions, notably the APQ8096SGE chipset. This component’s core capabilities encompass the following functionalities: firstly, a serial low-power interchip media bus (SLIMbus) facilitates access to all on-chip digital audio channels; secondly, it provides inter-IC sound (I2S) access while preserving compatibility with previously utilized integrated circuits (ICs). Furthermore, it incorporates a SoundWire interface for powering WSA8810 or WSA8815 speaker amplifiers. The device also features six analog input ports and seven analog output ports, alongside six audio analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and seven digital-to-analog converters (DACs). It includes six digital microphone inputs – specifically three clock/data pairs – and supports multibutton headset control (MBHC) for identifying smart accessories. Concerning digital processing, the WCD9335 offers: microphone activity detection (MAD), which monitors audio, ultrasound, and beacon signals; integration with the Qualcomm® Voice Activation subsystem; and active noise cancellation (ANC). Finally, its integrated analog support contributes to a streamlined bill of materials (BOM) and reduced overall component area.
