They simulate the real applications used between computers in a network. IxChariot uses these application scripts to make identical API calls to the network protocol stacks that actual applications do, prompting the protocol stacks to execute similar data transmission and reception tasks as your daily applications would. Scripts contain commands like SEND and RECEIVE, along with script variables such as buffer size and type of data in each send operation, which generate different types of data flows on the network. You can adjust parameters and variables that control these commands to customize scripts for testing and monitoring purposes. This manual provides detailed information about each component of a script, including its commands and variables, along with descriptions of all pre-installed IxChariot scripts available at no cost. Application scripts are typically independent from the network protocol used. Therefore, the same script can be utilized across any supported network protocols by Performance Endpoints you use. There is a set of scripts known as streaming scripts that require a datagram (connectionless) protocol such as IPX, RTP, or UDP. These specific types of scripts will be discussed separately below.
