Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a promising technology in 5G cellular networks. D2D communication establishes a direct link between user devices that are close to each other, bypassing the core network. There are two types of D2D communications: in-band and out-of-band. In-band can be further categorized into underlay and overlay modes, while out-of-band is divided into controlled and autonomous modes. Power control is necessary for in-band underlay D2D communication networks to ensure efficient operation.
